SIYII

Presented for all to see... Symphony in Yellow II. Isn't it great?? The pic is a little blurry (sorry, camera problems) so you can't see the shells really well. But, by golly, they are there! SIYII only took me 3 days to complete, which is considerably better than dishcloth number one(around 1 week). Now that I have a grand total of two stitches at my command (hee hee), it is time to move on.. to what? I have a lovely scarf pattern and yarn calling my name....

Dishcloth Number Two...

.. or as we like to call it, Symphony in Yellow, Part Two... is coming along very nicely. I'm a little over a third of the way done. It is a shell pattern (sc with 2 hdc) and very pretty. I was having trouble at first, not with the pattern, but with my first row after the chain. I completely suck at counting stitches in the chain, apparently. Skipping them is even worse! I started and ripped this bad boy out about 4 times. Called my mom for a whine/words of inspiration... and got it right the next time I tried. Yeah, me!

I also went to Michael's on Saturday and bought yarn for a scarf and sock patterns. Why am I so obsessed with creating socks? I have dreams about it. Not really.

Ok -- I lied. I do.

Finally, I have found out my true nature in life, courtesy of the fine people at Quizila.

You are Merino Wool.
You are Merino Wool. You are very easygoing and sweet. People like to
keep you close because you are so softhearted.
You love to be comfortable and warm from your

What kind of yarn are you?

Ta da!

Yes, it is what we have all been waiting for, with sweaty anticipation and a great deal of skepticism... FIDDLER'S GREEN IS DONE! Don't believe me? Look at it, right there! HURRAY! (Ok, I am overusing the caps. I'll calm done.) But I am really proud of myself, especially after the "slipstitch" incident (This dishcloth was originally done in yellow and named Symphony in Yellow. Finished, in fact. Then I realized that I had been using a slipstich instead of a sc. Oops!)

Now, what to crochet next? So many things I want to do...

Now you can blow your nose in style...

I saw a great post on Crochetville today for a crocheted pocket tissue holder. I am not quite up to starting it yet (still pluggin along on Fiddler's Green) but I have added it to my to-do list. Seems like a great stocking stuffer to me.

And finally today....

I just joined Crochetville and am really excited. Looks like a lot of good information/discussion out there. I was pleased to see a whole area devoted to socks.. which I have been itching to try. I'll know where to turn to now. :-)

And this button...

.. for one of my new fave blogs to read!

Buttony goodness

Just thought I would add this for my Secret Pal...

Silliness for the day: Which Classic Female Literary Character Are you?

I think this says it all! :-) Considering the other women in the quiz were: Jane Eyre, Emma Woodhouse, Beth March, Catherine Earnshaw, Scarelett O'Hara, Anna Karenina, Marianne Dashwood, and Estella from Great Expectations, I am pretty pleased. What if I had come up as Scarlett or Anna? *shudder*

The first post

Well, at this time I don't have a ton to report on the crocheting front. I am feverishly working on my second dishcloth; the first is finished... but not up to par. There is a story about all this, which I will post when I have photos. Believe me, it fully demonstrates how good (read: bad) I am at following instructions. I can only hope I have learned my lesson from all this (oh, I have, I have!). So "Symphony in Yellow," as I had fondly dubbed it, is no longer in my good graces. Hopefully, "Fiddler's Green" will not be royaly screwed up/"out of tune".

And yes, I am a cheeseball for naming my crocheting creations.

Also, I can't wait to be matched up with my Secret Pal! I just stumbled on the SP6 links while surfing the crochet blogs out there (which, btw, are written by some very funny, talented women), and signed up almost instantly. Sounds tre cool!
